Member ProfilesRyuta Iwase (Clarinet)Graduated from the Faculty of Music at Toho Gakuen School of Music. He studied at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and the Royal Conservatory of Mons in Belgium.As a clarinetist with the contemporary music ensemble Ensemble Platypus in Vienna, he has been involved in numerous projects. He has been invited to perform at music festivals around the world, including the Vienna Modern Festival. He has won numerous international competitions, including first place in the chamber music category at the 11th Pietro Argento International Music Competition (Italy), third place in the chamber music category at the 4th Marco Fiorindo International Music Competition (Italy), and third place in the chamber music category at the 5th Padua International Music Competition (Italy).
Tomomi Ota (Accordion)She began playing the accordion at a young age and moved to Germany after graduating from the piano department of the Kunitachi College of Music High School. She graduated with honors from the Folkwang University of the Arts Soloist Course Accordion Department and obtained a German national performer license. She studied under Mie Miki. After returning to Japan, she has promoted the appeal and potential of the instrument through a wide range of performances, focusing on classical and contemporary works. She is currently a lecturer in the accordion department at the Tokyo College of Music High School.
Yoshu Kamei (Violin)Since around 2000, she has focused primarily on premiering works by her contemporaries. In 2005, she studied European 20th-century music and improvisation at the Royal Conservatory of Liège in Belgium. Since returning to Japan, she has continued to premiere works by her contemporaries, appearing in both her own projects and in concerts organized by major halls in Tokyo, primarily premiering and restaging chamber music and solo works by Japanese and international composers. She has premiered over 100 pieces to date. He also performs classical shakuhachi pieces.
Shinichiro Tokunaga (Guitar)He began studying guitar at the age of nine and moved to France in 2007. He studied at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg and then graduated unanimously with honors from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris in 2016.He studied guitar with Michio Kawatake, Alexis Mouzolakis, Laurent Dyens, and Judicael Perroy, and early music and lute with Yasunori Imamura.He won first and grand prize at the 2010 Olsztyn International Guitar Competition. His album "Terule" won the Excellence Award at the Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival.
Kitazume Hiromichi (Composition)He graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Toho Gakuen College of Music, Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, and IRCAM, majoring in composition, conducting, and computer music. In composition, he integrates creation and implementation through expanded instrumental and vocal performance techniques, research and development of unique instruments, devices, and acoustic technologies, and experimentation with spatial design. He has also worked on conducting, technical production, and production for numerous projects, including works by other composers. He is the director of INTEG'Lab. In recent years, he has been involved in nurturing the next generation of musicians at Tokyo University of the Arts, Toho Gakuen College of Music, Kunitachi College of Music, University of Tokyo, and Hokkaido University of Education.
Kinoshita Masamichi (Composition)Born in 1969 in Ono City, Fukui Prefecture. After gaining experience in wind bands and hard rock, he studied music at Tokyo Gakugei University. After entering university, he also participated in free jazz, group improvisation, and comedy bands. He has been a recipient of awards such as the Toru Takemitsu Composition Award. Currently, her activities are centered around three pillars: composing on commissions and collaborative projects with various organizations and individuals, planning concerts in collaboration with outstanding performers, and improvising using electronic equipment in unconventional ways. Recently, she has also begun writing children's stories.
Noriko Koide (Composer)She studied composition and gamelan at the Tokyo College of Music, the Amsterdam Conservatory, the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and the Indonesian University of the Arts Surakarta. She has received awards including the 17th Akutagawa Prize for Composition and the 18th Idemitsu Music Prize. Her recent work, "The Cradle and the Thready Rain," commissioned by BBC Radio 3, premiered with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. She served as the fourth Composer-in-Residence for the Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra. She is the leader of the Animal Musicians, which presents animal-themed dance and music.
Haruyuki Suzuki (Composer)Born in Tokyo, she won the 16th Irino Prize for her work "Double Key." His works have been performed at Gaudeamus International Music Week, the Suntory Summer Festival, and other venues. His music has also been broadcast on NHK-FM, CS Radio Sky, and other networks. In 2000, he performed his first live silent film performance, primarily featuring electronic music. This experience inspired him to pursue live electronic performances of music alone, separate from film. He also collaborates extensively with musicians from other genres.
